3M 02604 Softback Sanding Sponge (Fine, , -pack) is a foam-backed abrasive sponge for wet and dry hand sanding on automotive clearcoat, paint, and primer. The foam core conforms to curved panel surfaces and contours while providing enough rigidity for controlled flat sanding across larger sections — the ideal balance for complex automotive body panels.
Fine grade is used for final wet sanding of clearcoat — removing orange peel, nib defects, dirt, and texture before machine polishing to a perfect finish. Rinse and reuse multiple times in wet applications — far more economical than sheet sandpaper for clearcoat wet sanding operations.
