FAQ

Can I wrap my catalytic converter with this?

No, DEI does not recommend wrapping catalytic converters because trapped heat can shorten converter life.

Is this safe on titanium exhaust?

No, DEI does not recommend this wrap on titanium exhaust of any brand since trapped heat can make the alloy brittle.

Will the black color stay black?

The black finish will fade over time to the original tan wrap color, which does not affect performance.

How do I know how much I need?

Use the manufacturer’s exhaust wrap calculator to estimate the length required for your specific pipe run.

Can I remove and reuse the wrap?

The wrap is not designed to be removed after heat cycling, so plan for a permanent installation.

What ties this down?

Stainless steel locking ties, sold separately, are recommended for securing the finished wrap.

Does this need a sealant coating?

A hi-temp silicone coating is highly recommended to seal and protect the wrap and restore its black finish.

Can this be used on flex pipes?

Avoid wrapping flex-pipes or flex-joints since the wrap is not designed to move after it has heat cycled.

Installation Instructions

  1. Use DEI’s Exhaust Wrap Calculator to confirm the length needed for your header or pipe run
  2. Start wrapping at one end, overlapping each pass by roughly 1/3 to 1/2 the wrap width
  3. Follow the printed guide lines on the wrap to keep wraps even and tight
  4. Secure the finished wrap with DEI Stainless Steel Locking Ties (sold separately)
  5. Apply DEI Hi-Temp Silicone Coating (sold separately) to seal and prolong the wrap’s lifespan
