Surface preparation is the most important factor in seam sealer and adhesive performance. Substrate must be clean, dry, and free of oil, wax, silicone, and loose material. For bare metal applications, apply within the specified open time after surface prep to prevent flash rust or contamination. Always check the product’s required flash time before topcoating — applying paint too early over uncured sealer causes solvent pop and adhesion failures in the finished repair.
